The CYDFI Scholarship Project is initially implemented in Bo. Calantas and Nabuclod Aeta Community, both being located and under the town jurisdiction of Floridablanca, Pampanga. These two communities shall serve as social laboratories of the Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc. to challenge SWREM Theory In Action, the methodology, in its initial phase of implementation to respond on the issue of helping to address and do a crusade against abject poverty in Philippine rural areas.

At the very onset on the establishment of Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc., the family
members of the Founders, Antonio and Rita, were made aware of its Mission in providing
Scholarship Grants ONLY to indigent but deserving talented youths in Bo. Calantas, from the
graduating class of the Calantas Elementary School. And the only way any family member or
relative can benefit from the Scholarship Project is, if and when, s/he meets the Criteria of the
Scholarship Project, that is: "s/he must be among the top five (5) of the 6th grade graduating
class, selection of which being from the 1st down to the 5th in rank of the honor's list".
Otherwise, whoever is on top of the honor's list shall be given first priority for the scholarship
slot per availability of financial resources from the Founders. And, only a member of the
graduating class from Calantas Elementary School shall be considered to be qualified and
accepted, regardless whether a youth is a family member or not.
Most of the Mendoza family members are, in themselves, in need of help and are not materially
blessed but the Founders established the Foundation to respond on the issue of poverty in the
Philippine rural communities starting with Calantas and Nabuclod Aeta Community through a
Scholarship Project. It is deemed more appropriate to look into the long-term benefit of
maximizing the use of limited resources wherein the Founders recognized their limitation in
providing material resources to support the Scholarship Project of the Foundation.
- Meaning, the intent to help youth in helping him help himself through good education so he
can help others is the deep motivating factor in creating a model of Scholarship Project to
help address the issue of poverty in rural communities.
Setting of CYLEP: Community-Based Scholarship Project Model
Abject poverty should not be a hindrance for an indigent but deserving talented youth to move on and discover the beauty and splendor of what life has to offer thru the Community Youth Leadership and Empowerment Program of Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc.
