The CYDFI Scholarship Program is implemented in Bo. Calantas and Nabuclod Aeta (Negrito) Community, both being located and under the town jurisdiction of Floridablanca in Pampanga. These two communities shall serve as social laboratories of the Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc. to challenge a methodology (SWREM Theory In Action) in its initial participation to respond on the issue of poverty in Philippine rural communities.
At the very onset on the establishment of the Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc., the family members of the Founders, Tony and Rita, were made aware that the mission of the Foundation is to provide Scholarship Grants to indigent but deserving talented youth of Calantas graduating from the Calantas Elementary School. And the only way any family member or relative can benefit from the Scholarship Program is if and when s/he meets the criteria of the scholarship program, that is: "s/he must be among the top five (5) of the 6th grade graduating class, selection of which being from the 1st down to the 5th in rank of the honor list". Otherwise, whoever is on top of the honor list shall be given first priority for the scholarship slot per availability of financial resources from the Founders. And, only graduates from Calantas Elementary school shall be accepted!
Most of the Mendoza family members are, in themselves, in need of help and are not materially blessed but the Founders established the Foundation to respond on the issue of poverty in the Philippine rural communities starting with Calantas and Nabuclod Aeta Community through a Scholarship Program. It was deemed more appropriate to look into the long-term benefit of maximizing the use of limited resources wherein the Founders recognized their limitation in providing the Scholarship Program. Meaning, "the intent to help youth help himself so he can help others" is the deep motivating factor in creating a model of scholarship program to help address the issue of poverty in rural communities.

Abject poverty should not be a hindrance for an indigent but deserving talented youth to move on and discover the beauty and splendor of what life has to offer thru the Scholarship Program Model (SWREM Theory In Action) of Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc.
