CYDFI USA is being registered in California to tap a very important source of support coming from among
the Calantas folks residing in the San Francisco Bay Area and those residing across the country. The
Foundation is trying to knock at the door of the Calantas Folks and, hopefully, they will open their hearts and
welcome the  opportunity to join the rest of us in trying to help our indigent but deserving talented youth help
themselves through a Scholarship Program Model. This invitation is also open to any non-Calantas resident
who believes in what we are trying to do and accomplish.

It I were to paint a picture of the Scholarship Program Model being initiated in Barrio Calantas and Nabuclod
(when feasible), here is how it looks:
  1. The target population of the Scholarship Program in Calantas are the top five (5) graduating 6th grade
elementary students and for Nabuclod, the first top three (3) in class. Nabuclod, however, has a long
way to go because of some issues affecting the implementation of the Scholarship Program. Please
CLICK HERE to learn more about the Issues of Implementation in Nabuclod. Therefore, the main
focus of the Foundation in raising needed resources (funding) is geared towars benefiting mostly, as
    yet, those youth from Calantas.
  2. Since 2003, the Foundation has limited itself in opening the Scholarship for the 6th grade First Honor
Student from the Calantas Elementary School and every year, thereafter, for the past three (3) years.
There are a total of 3 Scholars, so far, in the Scholarship Program and their number is getting bigger
    every year.
  3. All these three (3) Scholars and an additional one, every year thereafter, on a continuous basis are in
the Phase 1: High School Scholarship Grant of the CYDFI Scholarship Program. The main sponsors of
the Phase 1 High School Scholarship Program are Tony/Rita (CYDFI Founders) and the Mendoza
Family in honor of their late loved ones, and named the Grant as: Apung Pio-Posti-Danding High
School Scholarship Grant. However, this Grant doesn't cover Phase 2 and is limited only to the Phase
1: High School Scholarship Grant. The help is needed when Phase 1 Scholars move on to the Phase 2
    of the Scholarship Program.
  4. Dr. H. Mercado and Family have initiated, beginning SY: 2007-2008, a welcome effort to sponsor ONE
SCHOLAR AT A TIME when our CYDFI Scholars begin to move on to the Phase 2: College
Scholarship Grant of the Scholarship Program of the Foundation. Meaning, the College Scholarship
Grant sponsored by the Mercado Family will only be available for another one after the current scholar
shall have graduated from a four (4) year college course. The Mercado Family christened their
sponsorship to the Phase 2 College Scholarship Program to honor their beloved late parents, thus the
name of the Scholarship Grant is identified as: Teodoro-Fausta Mercado College Scholarship Grant.
  5. This is where the Foundation is at, right now!.If you take a closer look at the PROJECTED NEEDS of
the Scholarship Program, you will see a very good picture of what I want to paint before you.
  6. Finally, objective #1 of the CYDFI USA mandates the Foundation towards providing support to the
mission of CYDFI Philippines, that is:
  • "to empower indigent but deserving talented youth of Calantas and Nabuclod Aetas through
a Scholarship Program Model with a methodology, called: SWREM Theory In Action,
designed to help them help themselves so they can help incoming scholars leading to
Breaking their Cycle of Poverty, with implications not only to personal but community
growth and development, as they learn to become socially responsible."
