THE SCHOLARS OF THE CALANTAS YOUNG DREAMERS FOUNDATION, INC
As part of the plan, there are three (3) phases of the CYDFI Scholarship Program which are available to scholars and these are:
Phase 1: Calantas High School Scholarship Grant
Phase 2: Calantas College Scholarship Grant
Phase 3: Calantas Graduate School Scholarship Grant
The Foundation has already initiated to accept one scholar every year since SY:2003-2004. Due to limited financial resources, it has limited itself as yet to make the scholarship available on the basis of need from among the graduating top five (5) honor students in class, starting from the 1st down to the 5th honor student. The current scholars are all graduates from the Calantas Elem. School, and none as yet from the Nabuclod School due to some issues of implementation in the CYDFI Scholarship Program. All three scholars are in Phase 1: Calantas High School Scholarship Grant. The grant is sponsored by the CYDFI Founders and the Mendoza Family and christened as: Apung Pio-Posti-Danding High School Scholarship Grant (APPDHSSG), in honor of their memory. The first cycle of the Phase 1: APPDHSSG will be completed during SY: 2003-2007 and Phase 2 (College) shall start, thereafter, the following SY: 2007-2008. This, then, is the beginning of the "Teodoro and Fausta Mercado College Scholarship Grant" to become active. One of the sponsors of the college scholarship grants is the Dr. Mercado and Family. But, just like Phase 1: APPDHSSG, the grant is limited only to accept one scholar at a time, in an interval of four (4) years. The First (1st) Awardee of the CYDFISP shall, then, be in a position to move on to the Phase 2. Calantas Young Dreamers Foundation, Inc. has a guarantee of sponsorship for its Phase 1: High School Scholarship Program. Beyond SY: 2007-2008, sponsorship for the next scholar going to Phase 2 is a concern. Please CLICK HERE to see the projected needs of the CYDFI scholars. The Foundation appreciates any extra help coming from kind-hearted individuals to assist our scholars move on to their Phase 2 level of education, and to some extent to the Phase 3 (Graduate School), especially to those qualified scholars who would like to sharpen their chosen field of expertise. The Foundation, being a non-profit corporation, needs the help of the public. Currently, the Founders only guarantee financial resources for the Phase 1 Scholars.
The Founders believe that "SWREM Theory In Action", as its adopted methodology, is designed to make the Foundation become a self-sustainable entity as it reaches its maturity of operation to sustain its own growth and development. It is, likewise, the belief of the Founders that the effort is being like a farmer planting the seed in a garden nourishing and nurturing it with the water of life. This seed is assured to be provided with the TLC (Tender Loving Care) it needs to survive so that it will grow healthy and bloom to bear fruits. When the right time comes, the farmer shall harvest in abundance the fruits of his labor which he can share to others. He does this because he believes in caring is sharing. And this is his way of addressing to help break the cycle of poverty in the community where he lives and that is, "to empower his community to become self-empowered". When an individual learns to share, he cares! He shares because he cares. He cares that is why he shares. This is Social Responsibility!
